Who is RoCa and why just RoCa?
I am a result of my background, culture, gender and beliefs. I am in constant search for improvement and development yet clear and confident of my integral identity.
Rodriguez Calero is my name and RoCa is the abbreviation, nickname.
What sort of ordinary images have you found captivating in recent days, weeks?
All is perceived as intriguing yet varies, depending on that inner connection.
What triggers the transformation of the everyday man/woman/event into an iconic stature?
Iconic stature is within us all and transformation varies depending on the circumstances and challenges.
How does the day start for RoCa?
Trying to maintain a simple routine and continuing to improve where I left of.
What empowers your emotional world?
Degrees of imperfection, vulnerability, integrity and passion. What about your inspiration flow?
Inspiration is always in the physical flux but my subconscious inspiration is continuous. Do you have a go to saying with regards to art and artists and the world around them?
It is important that one does not rely on technical ability or in being satisfied, to be able to critique honestly ones work, so that there is freshness in the evolution of creation. What recent events contain the most dramatic and intense imagery for you? What is your reaction?
The constant inhumanity to man is incredulous. I focus on sustaining optimism and being proactive each day to contribute to making a positive change. Who are the most fascinating people you know and what makes them fascinating?
Fascinating is a surface so all has an intrigue, but to have admiration for a person that is rare since the defining feature must come from within, complete and selfless. How do you define the social and political reality we’re sharing? What’s RoCa’s perspective on it all?
My opinions are outspoken in action, not in words. They exist in the way I live or present myself. I foster liberty and dare to be intrepid. In the complex and interwoven moments in my work I explore themes of spirituality, sexuality, socio-cultural and political behavior. I do this in a manner not to judge or impose, but to enlighten, to realize and dignify my themes in a humanitarian, pragmatic manner. What is a good day despite it all?
The ability to sway ones attitude and perception makes it a good day.
