Monday Monologue Debut Star. So intense! Thank YOU! Would you like to share a few words as an intro to your monologue?
The monologue is from a play written by Mr. James Baldwin. The play is titled "Blues For Mr. Charlie". Those words were so powerful when they were written and are still so powerful today. Who is Nathaniel J. Ryan? What keeps you inspired? I am an actor, activist, martial artist and yogi. I am inspired by other actors and artists that produce great content. I am encouraged by the constant stream of new content being produced. |

Where do you turn to fuel up on good energy?
I listen to a lot of inspirational speakers and I read a lot.
What are some visible and invisible struggles and rewards in an actor’s life?
No one ever sees the disappointment or hurt behind not getting a job you worked hard for. I don’t think production companies realize that it takes a lot of work to set up at home video auditions. Requiring actors to be vaccinated is a form of coercion.
The rewards are also intangible. Pursuing my dreams gives me a sense of freedom that I can’t put a price on.
We have an ongoing campaign titled #BeatTheBlues on ways to prioritize mental health. What does Nathaniel J Ryan do to #BeatTheBlues?
I have weekly counseling sessions with a dope counselor. I make time to talk to friends. I wake up early to meditate, workout and read. I don’t check emails until 12pm. I try to stay off social media until after I eat breakfast and I eat healthy.
