Can you share with us something about yourself as a young singer getting an early start on building your own musical portfolio?
I am a 15-year old, Canadian singer/songwriter living in NJ. I lived in Dubai for 8 years, before moving to the US in 2017. I am quite tall, very goofy and love life.
I started singing my favorite artists’ songs when I was 4 but really began performing and competing at the age of 9. I can remember when my grandpa bought me my first ever mini guitar. I then started taking lessons and accompanying myself by singing. I write all of my songs and began songwriting about one year ago. It is my true passion! I also love to collaborate with other artists.
What can you tell us about your experience on Voice Kids Canada 2016? What would you say to other kids who want to be part of these competitions?
It was a life changing experience. I learned so much from it, made friends that love the same thing as me and found my true passion for music. My advice is to go for it! You can never lose anything trying it out. You only gain confidence, experience and make great friends from it!
Who are your role models? And why?
Musicians such as Sia, Ed Sheeran, Adele, James Arthur, and Birdy are all huge role models to me. They are musicians that stay true to their art and make music for all of the right reasons. They are humble and very empowering to all of their fans.
Who would you like to sing a duet with?
Singing with Sia would be my ultimate dream!
What are your other hobbies? Spending time with my family, playing sports and cooking are some of my main hobbies.
How has 2018 been treating you and what are your expectations for the new year?
2018 has been amazing. I traveled, adapted to a new country and school, released my first music video and more original music, as well as grew closer to my friends and family. I became more confident in myself and happier in general. There were some hard parts, but I managed to push through it and am continuously learning to be a better version of myself.
I hope that 2019 will be as amazing, if not better! I would love to continue releasing music, working with other amazing artists and producers, performing and continuing my studies successfully.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Ideally, I see myself possibly touring the world, making music and empowering those around me. I see myself graduating from college, whether it is when I’m 22 or 30, and I see myself being the happiest version of myself! How can you describe yourself in 5 words? Happy, goofy, passionate, hardworking, kind. It is a good day when…
I sing, make music, spend time with my loved ones, cuddle my dog and smile. :-)
